Undefined Explosive Device (UED) event in Chhattisgarh, Ittalanka, Sukma District area, India on Tue 18th August 2026

On August 18, Security Forces (SFs) recovered explosives and other materials from a suspected Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) dump in a forest area around 300 metres from Ittalanka Village under Chintalnar Police Station limits in Sukma District, Chhattisgarh, reports ETV Bharat. Acting on intelligence regarding concealed Maoist materials, the Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a joint search and area-domination operation. A Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was deployed after a suspicious bag was located. The recovery included 25 gelatin sticks, two electric detonators, 16 Barrel Grenade Launcher (BGL) heads, 25 detonator cases, Cordtex wire, a BGL plunger, flexible wire and a battery connector. Sukma Superintendent of Police (SP) Mayank Gurjar, CRPF 150th Battalion officer Rakesh Chandra Shukla and Additional SP (Naxal Operations) Rohit Shah were involved in the operation. Gurjar said SFs would continue searches to locate concealed Maoist dumps. The recovery was made amid ongoing area-domination and Counter-Assault Search Operations (CASO) in forest areas of Sukma aimed at disrupting Maoist activities and preventing the use of concealed explosives and other resources.
