Other MoA event in Yar Phu area, Myanmar on Thu 3rd September 2026

Mizzima - In Yebyu Township, Tanintharyi Region, a Myanmar military column advancing into the area was attacked by a joint force of the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and the Yay Belu Battalion, according to reports.

The first clash took place yesterday at around 5:30 a.m. in Kywe Ta Lin Village and lasted approximately 30 minutes, according to a statement released by the Yay Belu Battalion on the evening of 3 September.

Similarly, at around 7:00 a.m. the same day, KNLA Battalion 27 and the Yay Belu Battalion attacked a military position near Yar Phu Village, which is adjacent to Kywe Ta Lin Village. The fighting reportedly lasted about 45 minutes. A local resident said that the clash occurred on the outskirts of Yar Phu Village.

Regarding casualties, the Yay Belu Battalion stated that in the Yar Phu battle, one soldier was killed and another wounded. The outcome of the clash in Kywe Ta Lin Village was still under investigation. No casualties were reported among the KNLA-led forces.

After the fighting, the Myanmar military reportedly fired artillery shells. One shell landed and exploded inside Yar Phu Village, injuring a woman in her 30s, according to a source.

The source said:“Yes, it is true. The injury was not severe. It was to her arm.”

In Tanintharyi Region, the military has been conducting operations along the Htee Khee border road in the eastern Dawei forest region, an area where KNLA-allied forces are active, as well as in the southern part of Thayetchaung Township. Artillery strikes and air attacks have also been occurring frequently. A military source assessed that these operations are part of efforts by the military to re-establish full territorial control.
