The department literally says : "A 49-year-old man was found guilty of the following facts: intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm, which caused the loss of an organ (Part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine); intentional murder committed in a manner dangerous to the lives of many persons (Part 5 of Part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine); illegal carrying, storage and acquisition of ammunition without a permit provided for by law (Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He was sentenced to 14 years in prison. The prosecutor's office disagrees with the imposed sentence because of its lenience and is already preparing an appeal in which it will insist on a life sentence."

Details : The department recalled that the tragic event occurred in October 2025. First, a resident of Lozova found and appropriated two hand-held fragmentation grenades. He kept one of them for a long time under the sofa in his own apartment, and the other in the territory of warehouses where he rented boxes for work.

On the evening of October 10, 2025, a man, while intoxicated, came to the warehouses to clarify the relationship with the landlord's son due to financial claims.

"A 17-year-old assistant was in the room with the man. During the argument, the defendant took out a previously hidden RGN combat grenade from under the table, brought it to readiness by disconnecting the fuse, and threw it at his opponent's feet. As a result of the explosion, all three received serious injuries. The 39-year-old victim died in intensive care the next day. The teenager suffered facial and skull injuries, as a result of which he lost an eye," the prosecutor's office recalled.

During a search of the suspect's apartment, another F-1 combat grenade was seized.

At the trial, the accused pleaded not guilty and insisted that he was not involved in the explosion, but the prosecutor's office noted that "his guilt is fully confirmed by the evidence provided by the prosecution."

The man was awaiting sentencing in custody.

The prosecutor's office emphasized that it would appeal the court's verdict, demanding life imprisonment.
