Missile event in Kyiv, Darnyts'kyi District area, Ukraine on Tue 1st September 2026

In the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv, explosives technicians neutralized the warhead of a Russian S-400 missile, which fell into a residential building this night and did not detonate.

As Ukrinform reports, this was reported by  the Kyiv police communications department .

A dangerous find, which could detonate at any moment, was discovered by local residents on Tuesday.

Police explosives experts determined that the rocket  contained about 180 kilograms of explosives, as well as striking elements.

The ammunition posed a serious danger, so law enforcement officers evacuated residents of nearby buildings while the work was being carried out.

The combat unit was brought to a safe state and removed using special equipment from the State Emergency Service.

Later, pyrotechnicians transported it for further destruction under controlled conditions at a specialized landfill.

As Ukrinform reported, the death toll in Kyiv from a Russian ballistic missile attack on the night of September 1 has risen to eight , with five more people injured, including three children.
