Troops repel terrorist ambush, recover pistol and ammunition in Borno

Troops of 115 Task Force Battalion, in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have repelled an attempted attack by suspected terrorists in Rumirigo, Askira-Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 11:10 p.m. on Aug. 29, when the troops, while occupying an ambush position in the area, came in contact with suspected terrorists.

The troops responded with disciplined fire, forcing the terrorists to retreat in confusion.

During exploitation of the area after the encounter, the troops recovered one pistol and seven rounds of 9mm ammunition.

The recovered items have been secured by 115 Task Force Battalion for further action.

Sources said the general security situation across the theatre remained calm but unpredictable, while the morale and fighting efficiency of the troops remained satisfactory.
