Attacks on Military Convoy and Checkpoints in Magway and Htantabin Result in Heavy Military Casualties

Revolutionary forces and military sources reported that attacks on a military convoy and a Pyu Saw Htee militia checkpoint in Magway Township, Magway Region, killed five junta personnel, including a warrant officer. In a separate operation, an assault on a military base in Bummati Village, Htantabin Township, Bago Region, reportedly killed 14 junta soldiers.

At around 6:00 p.m. on August 29, resistance forces ambushed a junta convoy on the Magway-Natmauk road between Kyar Kan Village and Pagan Myaw Village in Magway Township.

According to an official from Thayet District Battalion No. 3 (Nga Pyae Ma), the attack killed one warrant officer and four soldiers, for a total of five military fatalities. One sergeant was seriously wounded, and one military vehicle was damaged.

Resistance forces also shelled a Pyu Saw Htee checkpoint in Pagan Myaw Village, which was reportedly manned by around 30 junta troops and militia members. Three 60 mm mortar rounds landed inside the compound and exploded. It remains under investigation whether additional casualties occurred inside the post.

"There are around 30 personnel stationed at the Pyu checkpoint. One of our fighters was killed while attacking the convoy," the battalion official said.

The operations were jointly carried out by members of the People's Defense Force (PDF), the Magway District Military Command, and Thayet District Battalion No. 3. During the fighting, one resistance fighter was killed and another sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
