Pyu Saw Htee Leader Htun Win and His Wife Shot Dead in Dawei; One Pistol Seized

Yangon, September 2

An official from the Special Guerrilla Force (SGF) told Khit Thit Media that Htun Win, a leader of the Pyu Saw Htee militia who lived in Kyet Sar Pyin Ward, Dawei, Tanintharyi Region, and his wife were killed in a shooting attack. The group also reportedly seized one firearm.​

The attack took place at around 8:00 p.m. on June 30, when SGF members allegedly carried out a surprise operation at the couple's residence. After the attack, the resistance fighters reportedly withdrew without suffering any casualties.

According to the statement, the following items were seized from Htun Win:

One pistol

One magazine

30 rounds of ammunition

One jacket

One mobile phone

One wallet containing 280,000 kyat

An SGF official stated:

"We carried out the attack because Pyu Saw Htee leader Htun Win had been oppressing local people in various ways."

The SGF also said that the operation was specifically targeted and had no connection to ordinary residents living in the ward.
