Military Continues Shelling with Heavy Weapons After Loss of Zinbon Village Base
Kachin, August 31
According to a Kachin Independence Army (KIA) source who spoke to Red Peacock News Media, a military base operated by Myanmar's military in Zinbon Village, located on the banks of the Ayeyarwady (Irrawaddy) River in Shwegu Township, Kachin State, was captured on August 30.
The KIA-led allied forces reportedly launched the attack and seized the base because military troops had been stationed in Zinbon Village.
According to the KIA source, the military has been resisting attacks by KIA allied forces around Shwegu using artillery, air support, and naval fire support.
Red Peacock News received video footage purportedly showing the capture of the Zinbon village military base, but it has not yet been independently verified.
Local sources also reported that the military continues to carry out daily airstrikes and artillery attacks in areas around Shwegu, causing damage to civilians' lives, homes, and property.
