Mizzima.. At least 10 members of the military were killed and five seriously injured when a mine was thrown at a military convoy of about 120 troops in Natmauk Township, Magway Region, according to the Vishnu People's Defense Army Headquarters.

The People's Defense Force said that at 6:46 a.m. on August 31, a column of approximately 120 military personnel entered Lai Bu village in Natmauk Township, arrested and beat local residents, and then detonated four landmines as they continued toward Haw Chaung Lay village.

“We had mined the areas they could go to in advance. We saw the dead and wounded being carried away. Our comrades were near the route they were retreating from,” an official from the military command told Mizzima.

Due to the mine attack, the column was unable to continue its march, and the dead and wounded were carried back to the village of Khaw Chaung Lay on stretchers.

Then, 13 ox carts belonging to locals were forcibly taken away, and five stretchers and two handcarts were used to carry the dead and injured. Two cars and a tricycle, which had been pre-ordered from Natmauk, were used to carry the dead and injured, according to the Vishnu People's Defense Army Command.

The group reported that during the clearance operation after the mine attack, they were able to document bloodstains and equipment left behind by the regime forces, and that the public defense forces were able to withdraw unharmed.

Mizzima has not been able to independently confirm the number of casualties among the military regime forces caused by the mine attack.

Due to the landmine attacks, the military's military columns are moving along forest paths instead of roads, and this attack was carried out by waiting in advance on a forest path used as a military bypass, said an official from the military command.

The official also said that mine operations are beneficial because they can harm the military's lines of defense.

The People's Defense Forces said that the ox carts and their owners, which were taken by the military column that was attacked by mines, have been released, and the military forces are stationed near Kampyo village.

The Vishnu People's Defense Army has warned people to be especially careful when traveling and living in areas close to the routes where military convoys move.

On August 10, the Bishnoi People's Defense Army Command announced that six junta soldiers were killed and eight others were injured when eight unexploded mines were used against a 60-strong military column between Chaung Son and Kan Nin Sint villages in Tatkon Township, Nay Pyi Taw Council Area.
