On 27 August 2026, FARDC shot down a plane (unclear if by a missile of an unknown origin, fired from the ground or a FARDC drone) in Bikuba (Mwenga, Sud-Kivu). The plane was described by M23 and its allies as operating between Bukavu and Minembwe to transport medical supplies. The administrator of the Fizi territory said that the plane was flying from Rwanda to Minembwe. According to him, the aircraft was carrying soldiers, military equipment, and food supplies. Two crew members were killed.
