An interagency operation deployed in the mountainous region of the municipality of Maguarichi culminated in the seizure of three stolen vehicles, a shipment of high-powered explosives, and narcotics, reported the Chihuahua State Public Security Secretariat (SSPE). The discovery occurred on the afternoon of Thursday, August 28, during coordinated air and ground patrols and prevention efforts by the SSPE, the State Investigation Agency (AEI), the National Guard, and the Mexican Army. From a state police helicopter, agents spotted three abandoned vehicles on a dirt road, prompting ground forces to proceed to the site for inspection. At the scene, authorities seized the following:
1 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV reported stolen in Arizona, USA.
1 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV reported stolen in Chihuahua.
1 Jeep Rubicon SUV reported stolen in Texas, USA.
1.1 tons of explosives.
6,324 pieces of high explosive.
5,234 electric detonators.
1,710 meters of initiation and detonation cord.
Approximately 3,200 marijuana seeds. The area was cordoned off by federal and state forces while awaiting the arrival of specialized personnel from the Mexican Army's Ordnance Disposal Unit, responsible for the safe handling and eventual controlled destruction of the devices. No arrests were made during the operation, and all the seized items were turned over to the Attorney General's Office (FGR) for the corresponding investigation.
