SAA event in Mexico on Fri 28th August 2026

Elements of the Mexican Army arrested seven hitmen and seized an arsenal during patrols in the municipality of Escuinapa, Sinaloa, after responding to a report from the C4 emergency center about a confrontation near the municipal seat. The intervention of federal forces was activated immediately upon receiving the alert about gunfire in the area. During the incident, a 49-year-old woman, identified as Miriam Lizet, was wounded in the head by a suspected stray bullet while at her home in the Benito Juárez neighborhood. The victim was treated by emergency personnel, prompting a large-scale mobilization in various parts of the area. The military personnel caught the suspects in the act, in possession of weapons and tactical equipment. Following the operation, authorities reported the seizure of the following items: 

5 long guns

28 loaded magazines

5 tactical vests

7 ballistic plates

Hundreds of rounds of ammunition of various calibers (to be counted)

The operation prompted the precautionary closure of local businesses and the deployment of helicopters from the Mexican Navy (SEMAR) to secure the area. The seven detainees and the seized equipment were turned over to the Attorney General's Office (FGR) in its Mazatlán branch, the authority that will compile the corresponding case file.
