On August 26 around 7:00 PM, helicopters taking off from Nyaung-U Airport carried out at least 15 airstrikes to allow the junta column to enter Tae Gyi village. While no civilian casualties were reported from the aerial attacks, several houses were damaged.

Following the airstrikes, revolutionary forces attacked and routed the incoming junta convoy and infantry column at around 7:00 PM, inflicting heavy casualties on junta troops. In retaliation, junta soldiers began burning down civilian homes in Tae Gyi village starting on the morning of August 28.
