Junta forces entered villages and launched drone and airstrikes without any ongoing clashes in Minhla Township, Bago Region; Salin Township, Magway Region; and the border area between southern Mahlaing Township and Meiktila Township, Mandalay Region, killing one civilian and injuring three women, according to local residents and news networks.
On the morning of August 22, a junta military column raided Nga Hla San village in Khwat Ma village tract, Minhla Township, Bago Region, opening fire with small arms despite the absence of fighting.
During the shooting, Nga Hla San resident U Aung Soe Win was hit by gunfire and killed on the spot, while junta troops rounded up local residents for questioning, locals said.
Later, around 4:00 PM on August 22, junta forces fired heavy artillery from Kan Kaw Pin village toward Taung Lein (Wea Yar) village and used drones to strike residential homes.
The attacks wounded three women from Taung Lein village, leaving one woman in critical condition.
