Warrant Officer Aung Myo Linn from the Military Engineers Corps, who held a hand grenade and threatened to detonate it following an argument over a blocked vehicle, died after being shot by police officers attempting his arrest in Namsang Town, southern Shan State, according to a police source.

The incident began on August 26 around 7:00 PM in front of the Khine Myitta Clinic alongside the Namsang–Mawkmai Road in Ward (2), Namsang Town, when a white Honda Fit (License No. SHN-24/1L-7577) parked blocking the clinic's entrance.

When the clinic in-charge, U Zayar Linn, asked the driver to move the vehicle to clear the path, the man inside refused, leading to a heated argument between the two.

The man inside the vehicle then brandished an object presumed to be a hand grenade, prompting the clinic in-charge to alert local authorities.

When officers from the Namsang Myoma Police Station arrived at the scene, they observed the man inside the vehicle shouting obscenities while holding a hand grenade.

Although police officers instructed him to step out of the vehicle, the man refused, kept hold of the hand grenade, and sped off in the car.

Police officers pursued the vehicle, and upon reaching the vicinity of the central clock tower in Namsang, two officers opened fire with their firearms, according to police records.

The gunfire blew out the vehicle's tires, causing the Honda Fit to crash into the roadside Wan Wan (Muse) Grilled Chicken shop and come to a stop.

After the car stopped, police officers fired additional shots. When the man failed to emerge from the vehicle, officers opened the car door to inspect and found him dead on the seat in a supine position with gunshot wounds.
