Projectile event in Sagaing Region, Wetlet Township area, Myanmar on Fri 21st August 2026

Air strikes launched while a terrorist military vessel convoy was moving upstream in eastern Wetlet Township, Sagaing Region, left one civilian decapitated and two injured, with machine-gun fire from the warships continuing to spray along the riverbanks, local residents told Yangon Khit Thit News.

Starting early on the morning of August 21, two combat warships, four flat-bottomed boats, and eight push-tugs departed from Mandalay's Gowein Port and traveled along the Irrawaddy River. Upon entering Madaya Township, the vessel convoy began firing heavy weapons and small arms indiscriminately along the riverway.

The fleet anchored overnight near Shein Makar village in Wetlet Township before resuming its upstream journey early on the morning of August 22 at around 5:00 AM.
