Russians destroy Kherson power plant with aerial bombs: authorities urge residents to leave the city.

Russian forces attacked the Kherson Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant overnight – the facility has sustained very serious damage, and Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the oblast military administration is urging residents to leave. According to Prokudin, Kherson may be left without electricity and heating for an extended period.

Quote: "Overnight, Russian forces again attacked the Kherson CHP with aerial bombs. Unfortunately, this is not the first time. But this time the facility sustained very serious damage.

Therefore, frankly, we can no longer count on the combined heat and power plant or other critical infrastructure facilities operating normally this winter…

So we must be honest: Kherson may be left without electricity and heating not for hours or days, but for an extended period.

I again appeal to the residents of Kherson, especially families with children and elderly people: if you have the means, relatives or friends in safer regions – leave."

Details: Prokudin added that the city authorities, utility services, energy workers and the government are already working on alternative heating and energy supply options for Kherson.

He also said the security situation in Kherson is extremely difficult. Since 1 July, 170 guided aerial bombs have already been dropped on Kherson Oblast – more in nearly two months than during the entire first half of 2026.

Over the past two months, Russian forces have launched more than 1,700 attack drones. In particular, they have begun more actively using jet-powered Shaheds and Gerbera drones for strikes on critical infrastructure in Kherson Oblast.

In addition, the number of attacks by small FPV drones has risen to 6,500 in just one week.
