Military air and drone attacks targeting Thandwe and Gwa Townships in Rakhine State, as well as Salin Township in Magway Region, injured eight civilians—including internally displaced persons (IDPs)—and damaged homes and infrastructure, according to local residents and Rakhine news sources.
On August 21 around 5:00 AM, a junta fighter jet dropped two 500-pound bombs on Nyaung Chaung village in Gwa Township, Rakhine State. The bombs exploded near the village school and hospital, injuring two local residents and six IDPs from Ayeyarwady Region, bringing the total to eight injured. The wounded are currently receiving emergency medical care.
The attack damaged the Nyaung Chaung village school, along with three residential homes, a motorcycle, a pulley system, and a bean grinding machine.
