A triple shooting that left one man dead and two others hurt shut down a part of Ridge Avenue on Tuesday evening as police investigated the massive crime scene.
The incident was first reported to dispatch just before 5 p.m., and police have since said that one person has died and two others are hurt. More than 50 spent shell casings have been found along the road and sidewalks as well.
People nearby were also seen on video ducking for cover amid the gunfire.
On Wednesday, another surveillance video obtained by NBC10 showed the moment gunfire erupted as people along a busy sidewalk suddenly ducked for cover as well.
The deceased victim, identified as a 78-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the hospital at 5:15 p.m. due to a gunshot wound to the back, Philadelphia Chief Inspector Scott Small said.
A 31-year-old man was shot four or five times in the lower back and leg, and a 71-year-old man was also shot several times, but they are both expected to survive, Small said.
Surveillance video seen by police shows a light color or silver SUV with four suspects pull up from southbound Ridge Avenue, Small said. The SUV stopped on the road and the suspects got out and opened fire, Small said.
The suspects then got back in the SUV and fled southbound on Ridge Avenue, Small said.
More than 50 spent shell casings were found at the scene, and several weapons were believed to have been used in the shooting, Small said.
The spent shell casings were found on the street, as well as both sides of the sidewalk, Small said. A parked car and a dollar store were damaged from gunshots, with the store having its front door and windows shattered. However, all three men shot are believed to have been on the sidewalk at the time, Small said.
A number of evidence markers were seen by SkyForce10 in the middle of the roadway.
Ridge Avenue is closed to traffic between Cecil B. Moore and 22nd Street at this time
The names of the victims have not been released, and Small said that investigators are still determining whether the shooting was targeted.
