Six Pro-Military Forces Reportedly Killed in Fighting in Hkamti Township

Sagaing Region, August 18

The Hkamti People's Defense Force (PDF) announced today that a joint column consisting of Myanmar military forces, the Shanni Nationalities Army (SNA), and allied militia members was attacked in Hkamti Township, Sagaing Region, resulting in casualties on the military side.

According to the Hkamti PDF, on August 3, the joint military column launched an attack against Hkamti PDF forces and allied resistance groups stationed in Chaung Thone Khwa Village (ချောင်းသုံးခွရွာ), Hkamti Township.

During the fighting, the Hkamti PDF claimed that six members of the military-aligned forces were killed and three others were seriously wounded.

Red Peacock News stated that it has not yet been able to independently verify these casualty claims.

According to a Hkamti PDF official, military forces later retrieved the bodies of those killed during the clash.


Photographs released by the Hkamti PDF reportedly show the seizure of:

Three firearms

One 60 mm weapon (likely a mortar)

Explosive ordnance/grenades

Ammunition magazines

Military uniforms

Ballistic helmets


The report further states that the Myanmar military maintains units in Hkamti, including:

Infantry Battalion 229 (LIB 229)

Infantry Battalion 52 (LIB 52)

Light Infantry Battalion 347 (LIB 347)

A military tactical command headquarters
