Bomb (Air Delivered) event in Paletwa Township, Miza area, Myanmar on Wed 26th August 2026

Paletwa residents said that the military junta bombed Mee Za village, a key hub on the India-Rakhine trade route in Paletwa Township, Chin State, from 4:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on August 26 with five aircraft.

A resident of Shinletwa, Paletwa Township, said that four fighter jets, one Y-12, and nearly 30 bombs were dropped on Mee Za village and the surrounding mountains, causing significant damage.

“There was a group of planes bombing Mee Za Sha. As far as we know, five planes bombed Mee Za village and the mountains to the west of the village. We heard a lot of bombing. Mee Za is a major hub for India-Rakhine trade. Since there are always traders and boatmen, if bombs were dropped on the ports, the damage would be quite significant.”

Paletwa residents say that most of the villagers of Mee Za are currently fleeing to safer villages due to the military's bombing raids using a group of aircraft.

Locals said that the village of Mee Za, which was bombed, was located on the banks of the Kaladan River and was a key village connecting the three military bases of Tarong Ai, Myit Wa, and Shin Let Wa.

A Rakhine trader in Laung Ta Lai said that the military government bombed three villages in Paletwa Township, a key hub of the India-Rakhine trade route, for three consecutive days from August 24 to 26, raising concerns about traders.

“Yes, Meezar was bombed. We don’t know if the damage was serious or minor. Villages along the trade route are being bombed every day, so it’s already worrying to even go down to Rakhine with goods. Since they are only bombing villages that are important for trade, it’s clear that the military is targeting this route and trying to disrupt it.”

The military junta launched an airstrike on Sein Nyin Wa village in Paletwa Township on August 24, followed by an airstrike on Shwe Laid Wa village on August 25, and another airstrike on Mee Za village on August 26.

The aerial bombardment of Sein Nyin Wa village killed 5 people, including children, and injured 17 others. The civilian casualties in the bombing of Shwe Laid Wa village and the bombing of Mee Za village are not yet known.

Since 2023, the military junta has imposed a blockade on the flow of goods to Rakhine State, forcing the state to rely solely on Mizoram for food, medicine, and fuel.

The Arakan Army (AA) has urged the public to be especially aware of airstrikes as the military dictatorship continues to suffer losses in its engagements with the Arakan Army (AA), which is targeting civilian targets in Rakhine State.
