The United Nations announced on August 24 that at least 47 people were killed and 22 injured after gang members launched an overnight attack in the Kenscoff hill district overlooking Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti.

The Haitian government condemned the incident as a "brutal attack" and pledged to strengthen security measures. However, local residents are calling for the resignation of the area’s police chief, arguing that authorities failed to protect people who were being killed in a location only a few minutes away from a police station.
