Air Delivered event in Kinpan area, Myanmar on Sun 16th August 2026

Four people, including a child, were killed and at least 13 others injured in an airstrike on the village where two battalion commanders of the Bo Naga Army (BNRA) who were being held in Pinyanbu Township, Sagaing Region, escaped, according to an investigation. 

Two BNRA battalion commanders who were receiving treatment at a hospital in Kin Pan village, about 12 miles south of Pinyanbu town, which has been controlled by the National Unity Government (NUG) since 2024, escaped on the night of August 15. 

The next day, August 16, at around 3:30 p.m., two fighter jets dropped eight bombs on the village and fired machine guns, according to local residents.

A Kinpan villager said that a nine-year-old girl, two female civilians, and a man from Kinpan village were killed in the airstrike.

“They fired twice. The next time, they machine-gunned those who were trying to escape. The dead were an uncle, a young woman, a grandmother, and a nine-year-old girl, four in total. The number of injured is unknown, but it is estimated to be around 13. Some had limbs amputated,” the man said.

The man added that the names and ages of the dead and injured are still unknown and that the investigation is ongoing. The death toll could rise further, and that about 15 houses were also damaged.

Kin Pan village in Pinyanbu Township is just over 30 miles away from the military base in Wontho Township.

Myanmar Now contacted military spokesman Dr. Khaing Khaing Soe by phone to inquire about the bombing, but he did not answer.

Man Si Lay village, north of Pinyanbu Township, was bombed this afternoon, destroying two houses but causing no injuries, and residents in Pinyanbu Township are concerned about air safety today.
