Mizzima: A 20-year-old woman was injured by artillery fire from the military in Kyaw Bin Waing Village, Pauk Kaung Township, Bago Region, according to local residents.
A refugee aid worker told Mizzima that yesterday (August 19) at around 9:09 PM, the military regime forces stationed at Thet Kaek Chan Monastery in Pauk Khaung Township opened fire with heavy weapons.
"The injured person is a woman. She was hit twice in the stomach and once in the arm," he said.
He added that the shooting took place without any fighting between Kyaw Pin Waing Village and Thatch Monastery, which are about three miles apart.
"There was no fighting. It was just shooting down the drones as soon as they were launched," he said.
According to those who helped refugees, there are about 3,000 people living in Gyopinwai village, which has about 800 houses.
In addition, it was reported that the military junta has been stationed at Thatch Kyan Monastery with a force of about 150 since August 4, 2026.
