Air Delivered
Air Delivered event in Syrian Arab Republic on Tue 18th August 2026
18th August 2026
On 18 August 2026, Israeli warplanes conducted four airstrikes on Abul Thohur - Military Airbase in eastern Idleb countryside, targeting the airport runway and other infrastructure and causing material damage only. Sources claimed that Israel justified the strikes as an attempt to prevent a Turkish military deployment at the airport, claiming that Syria had been preparing to allow Turkish forces to establish a presence there despite previous Israeli warnings. Sources claimed that Syrian and Turkish authorities denied the Israeli claims, with Turkey accusing Israel of using them as a pretext for the strikes. Other sources claimed that foreign fighters affiliated with the Syrian military forces had been stationed inside the airport before being instructed to leave and deploy in its surroundings in recent weeks. Sources also claimed that Turkish vehicles and equipment had been involved in ongoing rehabilitation works at the airport and that a Turkish military delegation had visited the airport in the days before the strikes to inspect the works. There were no casualties.
