On 18 August 2026, unknown gunmen detonated an explosive device targeting the gas export pipeline from the Jbessa Gas Plant near Al-Malha area in southern Al Hasakeh countryside, causing material damage and suspending gas pumping operations. Sources claimed that the Syrian Petroleum Company described the explosion as an act of sabotage and that the disruption affected the supply of gas to several electricity generation turbines. There were no casualties.
