On 20 August 2026, in Shwegu town (Shwegu township, Bhamo district, Kachin state), the Myanmar military conducted an airstrike with jet fighters on the civilians who were bathing and washing clothes along the riverbank in No. 2 Mawlamyine ward around 4:16 pm. The airstrike sank a boat along the riverfront. Khit Thit Media, Democratic Voice of Burma, and Kachin News Group reported that the airstrike injured 4 people including a pregnant woman, a child, and a couple. Network Media Group reported that the airstrike injured 7 people including a pregnannt woman.
