On 18 August 2026, near Maing Tone Tar Gyi village (coded as Maing Tone Tar Gyi) (Pinlebu township, Kawlin district, Sagaing region), the Myanmar military conducted airstrikes with two K-8W jet fighters from the Homalin Air Base and dropped 11 bombs on a local gold mining site. On 19 August 2026, Democratic Voice of Burma reported that the airstrike killed 4 women, and left 4 others missing, including children, women, and elderly individuals. Mizzima and Network Media Group reported that 5 people were killed and 8 people were missing. Myanmar Now reported that the airstrike killed 6 people including women and injured about 8 people. Khit Thit Media reported that the airstrike killed 8 people and injured 20 people. On 21 August 2026, Assistance Association for Political Prisoners also reported that the airstrike killed 6 people including 2 women. Fatalities coded as 6, using the most recent estimates.
