On 16 August 2026, in Kin Pan village (Pinlebu township, Kawlin district, Sagaing region), the Myanmar military conducted airstrikes using two jet fighters from Mandalay and Hkamti airports and dropped around 10 bombing runs in the village. During the airstrike, the Myanmar military used cluster bombs and machine-gun fire. The airstrike destroyed a school building, a hospital, and around 15 houses. Democratic Voice of Burma reported that the airstrike initially killed a pregnant woman and a 60-year-old man, and a 6-year-old girl died from her injuries early the next morning on 17 August and injured 13 others. Myanmar Now and Radio Free Asia reported that the airstrike killed 4 people including a child and injured 13 people. Khit Thit Media reported that the airstrike killed 3 people including 2 people who were dead due to the injuries, and injured 8 others. Fatalities coded as 3, using the lowest estimate.
