On 18 August 2026, the Ethiopian Air Force conducted a drone strike targeting TDF soldiers in Dandera, also known as May Tsedo/Kedamay Weyane, Mekelle (Mekelle Tigray, Tigray), killing at least 1 TDF soldier and wounding 2 other people. TPLF officials accused the Federal government of the drone strike, said 'there were no injuries,' and did not provide further details. Eyewitnesses mentioned that the 'projectile landed on farmland near a farmers' training center and a watering hole used for local farmers' livestock.' Sources also confirmed that private residences were hit.
