On 15 August 2026, as per FARDC, M23 carried out drone strikes and used heavy artillery in several locations in the Buhavu chefferie, coded to the chefferie headquarters, Ihusi (Kalehe, Sud-Kivu). At least 3 civilians were killed and 18 others seriously injured. Several hundred of families fled to Remeka, Katuundu, Biriko and other unspecified areas.
