The Arakan Army (AA) reportedly launched a coordinated attack last night against at least three temporary bases of military reinforcements advancing toward the Nat Yay Kan air defense base along the Ann (Arakan State)–Padan (Magway Division) road.

The targeted bases collapsed, and wounded junta soldiers were reportedly evacuated to the Padan township hospital overnight.

A local military source stated, “The AA attacked the temporary army camps using various tactics last night. It appears they suffered severe damage. The dead and wounded soldiers were transported to Padan by car. It is said that there were many casualties.”

According to the source, on the evening of August 19, two temporary Myanmar army camps near Gok Gyi were bombarded withheavy weapons, followed by drone-dropped bombs and ground assaults. Concurrently, another temporary camp located between Pazhi village and Nat Yay Kan Mountain came under attack.

"The camp near Pazhi village was also targeted by the AA," the source added. "The Nat Yay Kan camp itself is being struck by drones and heavy weapons almost every day. There is no shelter left for them."

Local military sources told Narinjara that the AA deployed a combination of drones, heavy weaponry, snipers, and close-range ground forces, inflicting heavy casualties on the junta troops.

Military sources report that the Myanmar army has launched an offensive to break a year-long AA siege of the mountain air defense base.

Located at a vital strategic point on the highest peak of the Arakan Roma Mountain range, the Nat Yay Kan air defense base has been cut off by the AA and its allies.

Despite deploying thousands of reinforcements and utilizing air support, the junta forces have struggled.

Sources state that the AA's military tactics are highly advanced and effective, frequently forcing the outmaneuvered junta troops to flee.

Earlier on August 15, a Myanmar Army column advancing to reinforce the besieged Nat Yay Kan air defense strategy was ambushed by the AA. That engagement reportedly resulted in the deaths of approximately 60 soldiers, including officers at the rank of major, and left many others wounded.
