Air Delivered event in Gwa Township, Kaing Khon area, Myanmar on Thu 13th August 2026

Eight civilians, including two children, were killed in a midnight airstrike conducted by the Myanmar military junta in Kyintali town, Gwa Township, on August 13, 2026.

The attack is part of an ongoing pattern of aerial bombardments targeting residential areas in the Arakan region where no active ground fighting is taking place At approximately 11:30 p.m. on August 13, a junta fighter jet dropped two bombs on residential areas along Metta Paungku Road in Ward No. 1.

The strike destroyed five houses and a tricycle. Local authorities are still investigating the full extent of the casualties and property damage. The eight victims killed in their homes have been identified asDaw Khin Moe Shwe (60), U Htun Lin (46), Daw Khin Sandar Htun (45), Ma Phyo Phyo Kyaw (36), Maung Min Wai Khant (35), Ma Win Ei Kyaw (26), Maung Nyan Lin Thant (12) and Maung Nay Lin Thant (7).

Earlier that evening, at around 10:55 p.m., a junta fighter jet also bombed Kaing Khon village in Gwa Township. No civilian casualties or property damage were reported in that specific attack.

Following a series of defeats in ground battles against the Arakan Army, the military junta has increasingly relied on round-the-clock aerial bombardments of civilian zones.

Local officials urge residents across the Arakan region to remain highly vigilant and strictly observe full-time air defense protocols.
