Novoshakhtinsk Oil Refinery shut down following drone attack, Rostov Region authorities say.
The Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery in the Rostov Region of the Russian Federation sustained damage as a result of a drone attack on the night of August 24–25.
According to Ukrinform, the BBC’s Russian service reported this, citing a statement by the region’s governor, Yuriy Slyusar.
According to the head of the Rostov Region, the Novoshakhtinsk Oil Refinery temporarily suspended operations following the attack.
Earlier, Slyusar reported an attack by about 30 drones on the Rostov region—the cities of Gukovo, Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, and Novoshakhtinsk, as well as the Kamensky, Tarasovsky, and Rodionovo-Nevsvitaysky districts, were targeted.
It is noted that the Novoshakhtinsk Oil Refinery has a design capacity of 7.5 million metric tons of crude oil per year. The facility produces crude oil, diesel fuel, bitumen, and other refined petroleum products.
As reported by Ukrinform, on Tuesday, August 25, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the strike on the Afipsky oil refinery in the Krasnodar Krai of the Russian Federation.
