On August 8, a Taliban morality Police officer was killed in a targeted attack in a park in Aino Mina township, Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, reports Afghanistan International. The United Front of Afghanistan claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that its fighters shot the official while he was riding a motorcycle. The group released a video purportedly showing the attack and said Taliban morality police officials would henceforth be included on its list of military targets, accusing them of beating, torturing and humiliating young people. The United Front of Afghanistan claimed the incident was its first attack targeting Taliban morality Police officials. The Taliban has not commented on the reported killing.
