Security Forces (SFs) killed nine terrorists and injured at least 16 others during an intelligence based operation (IBO) conducted in the Khatti Kalay area of North Waziristan District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on August 6, reports The Khyber Chronicles. The operation was launched after intelligence agencies received information regarding the presence of a group of terrorists operating from a hideout in the area. As troops advanced towards the suspected hideout, the terrorists opened indiscriminate fire in an attempt to break the security cordon. SFs retaliated which resulted in an exchange of fire for some time. During the operation, nine terrorists were neutralised, while at least 16 others sustained injuries. SFs said several injured terrorists fled towards nearby mountainous terrain. A cache of weapons, ammunition, explosives and communication equipment was reportedly recovered from the terrorists’ hideout.
