On August 16, a suspected associate of Neo-Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (Neo-JMB) operative Nazmul Hasan Mamun, alias Bomaru Mamun, identified as Juel Bhuiyan, 26, was arrested in Demra in Dhaka with two handmade bombs, reports The Daily Star. Mohsin Masud, Additional Deputy Commissioner of DMP’s Demra zone, stated that Police and members of the Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) operated in the area on information that Juel had been staying there. After the operation, Police cordoned off the house where Juel had been staying and searched the premises in the presence of members of different law enforcement agencies. The bombs were defused by a bomb disposal team of the DMP’s Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit, Mohsin added.
