14th August 2026
The National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Yung Aung (NSCN-YA) claimed responsibility for an armed attack on a 21 Assam Rifles post at Tikhak Taipi village near Longvi in Changlang District, Arunachal Pradesh, on August 14, reports Northeast Now on August 16. According to a statement issued by the outfit, a unit of its self-styled Naga Army attacked the post, triggering an exchange of fire that lasted approximately 45 minutes. The group claimed the attack was carried out against what it described as the domination of the Naga people and reiterated its demand for Naga sovereignty. NSCN-K-YA also claimed that security forces deployed reinforcements and drones and suffered casualties, though the claim could not be independently verified. Authorities confirmed that the post came under heavy fire but reported no casualties among Assam Rifles personnel.
