SAA event in Punjab, Amritsar District area, India on Thu 13th August 2026

Amritsar Police arrested five persons and recovered seven illegal pistols and 2.030 kilograms of heroin in Amritsar District on August 13, reports The Tribune. Preliminary investigation revealed that those arrested in the arms case were allegedly in contact with foreign-based smugglers and procuring weapons for further supply in Amritsar and Tarn Taran Districts.|In a separate case, Police arrested two persons, identified as Sikander Singh and Avinash Kumar alias Kalu and recovered three illegal pistols and three live cartridges, during a checking operation in Tarsikka, Amritsar District on August 13, reports The Tribune. A third suspect, allegedly involved in supplying the weapons, remains absconding. Police said the accused claimed the weapons were supplied by Sikander Singh alias Ghuggi for sale to an unidentified buyer. Raids are underway to arrest him and identify the intended recipient
