On July 26, a gunfight broke out between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and armed smugglers at the Jaminipara border in Matiranga Upazila (Sub-District) of Khagrachari District, reports Prothom Alo. BGB recovered 4 pistols (2 foreign and 2 local pistols), 14 bullets and other equipment from the scene. No casualties were reported in the incident. 23 BGB Commander Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Khalid Ibne Hossain stated that the Jaminipara Battalion has strengthened surveillance on potential routes for infiltration, arms, ammunition and drug smuggling in the border area.
