A foreign-manufactured revolver and 12 live rounds of ammunition were seized from a house in Mattakkuliya, Colombo, on August 19, reports Ada Derana. The seizure was made based on information obtained from a suspect currently detained by the Colombo Crime Division (CCD) under a detention order. Police said the suspect had been brought into Sri Lanka from overseas and is being detained as investigations continue. Acting on information revealed during the investigation, CCD personnel searched the suspect’s residence in Mattakkuliya and recovered the revolver and ammunition. Police did not disclose the country of manufacture of the firearm or identify any organisation linked to the seizure. Further investigations are being conducted by the CCD.
