On August 17, armed men attacked the vehicle of the Taliban’s Deputy Police Chief, Dost Mohammad alias Commander Saifullah, in Shatak village in Argo District of Badakhshan, reports Hasht-e Subh. Armed men led by Habib-ur-Rehman, known as Mullah Hamid, from Barlas Chenar village and a former Taliban agriculture director in the district, attacked the vehicle. Six Taliban fighters were involved in the clash, during which both light and heavy weapons were used. Taliban reportedly recovered two Kalashnikov rifles, one handgun and a motorcycle from the scene after the fighting ended.
