Unidentified armed men, suspected to be Baloch insurgents, carried out a series of attacks targeting a convoy of trade vehicles and its security escort in Chagai District of Balochistan on August 3, reports Zrumbesh. The assault began near Yak Mach, where unidentified armed men opened fire on a convoy of trade vehicles arriving from the Taftan border, damaging several vehicles. The gunmen also targeted security forces’ vehicles with rockets and other weapons, with reports indicating significant casualties among personnel. The same convoy came under attack at three further locations. Armed men briefly took control of the highway near Nokchah area of Dalbandin tehsil (revenue unit), where they continued conducting snap checks, set one large vehicle on fire and burst the tyres of another. At Chaar Sar, vehicles and their security escort were attacked, leaving a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and one other Police official injured. At Chahtar, armed men targeted two separate convoys of vehicles belonging to the Saindak Project as well as trade vehicles damaging multiple vehicles and seizing control of one. During these attacks, gunmen also took two drivers into custody.
