Grenade event in Manipur, Makokching Jungle, Kangpokpi District area, India on Mon 3rd August 2026

On August 3, Security Forces (SFs) recovered a cache of arms and ammunition during a cordon and search operation (CASO) in the hill range of Makokching Jungle under Saikul Police Station in Kangpokpi District, Manipur, on August 3, reports Manipur Police on X. The recoveries included one M16 rifle, one Mark III rifle, one sniper rifle, one .22 bolt-action gun, 25 single-barrel guns, seven pistols, 76 rounds of live ammunition of different calibres, 179 empty cartridge cases, one rifle magazine, four pumpis, three No. 36 hand grenades, 20 detonators, four Baofeng radio sets and one Baofeng charger. No arrests were reported in connection with the recovery. Further investigation is underway.
