SAA event in Jammu and Kashmir, Kellam, Kulgam District area, India on Sat 1st August 2026

On August 1, 2026, two migrant workers from Chhattisgarh were killed after terrorists opened fire on them at Kellam village in Kulgam District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), reports NDTV. The victims were identified as Deepak, who died at the scene, and Bhupender, who succumbed to injuries during treatment in hospital. Following the attack, Security Forces (SFs) launched a search operation to trace the assailants. The incident marks the second targeted terrorist attack in the Kashmir Valley within the past 10 days, following the killing of one Police personnel in Anantnag District. The attack occurred during the ongoing Amarnath Yatra, for which extensive security arrangements, including the deployment of 670 additional Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) companies, are in place. Earlier, Police had detained over 3,000 suspects during a Valley-wide crackdown after the Anantnag attack.
