SAA event in Jammu and Kashmir, Sursunoo-Tantrypora Orchard, Kulgam District area, India on Wed 29th July 2026

On July 29,Security Forces (SFs) neutralised a terrorist hideout, believed to be linked to the Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), and recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition during a joint search operation in the Sursunoo-Tantrypora orchard area of Kulgam District, Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), reports Northlines andRepublic World. The recovered cache included two rifles, two pistols, more than half a dozen Under Barrel Grenade Launchers (UBGLs), grenades, magazines, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition. Officials stated that the hideout was believed to have been maintained by HM for future terrorist activities. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to ascertain the ownership of the hideout and analyse the seized weapons. Officials also noted that the area was once a stronghold of HM commander Farooq Ahmed Bhat alias Farooq Nali, who was killed along with four terrorists in December 2024.
