Mortar Bomb event in Lakshmipur District, Ramgati Sub-District area, Bangladesh on Wed 29th July 2026

On July 29, three unexploded mortar shells were recovered from the ground during the development work of a water line on the TAT Office Road adjacent to ASM Abdur Rab Government College in Ramgati Upazila (Sub-District) of Lakshmipur District, reports Prothom Alo. Ramgati Police Station Officer-in-Charge Liton Dewan said, "Initially, it is believed that these are mortar shells. However, it has not been confirmed whether these are very old or not. Because, if they are very old, mortar shells are usually supposed to rust, but there is no rust visible on these. There is some doubt about the matter. The army and police bomb disposal teams will conduct tests and give a definitive opinion."
