Undefined Explosive Device (UED) event in Sumy, Konotop area, Ukraine on Sun 23rd August 2026

Over the past day, two people were killed and six injured as a result of Russian attacks in Sumy region.

The Sumy Regional Military Administration reported this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.

It said Russian forces carried out nearly 70 attacks on 23 settlements in the region over the course of the day.

In the Seredyna-Buda community, a 61-year-old man was killed after he rode his bicycle over an explosive device. The explosion of another unidentified device killed a 50-year-old woman and injured a 71-year-old woman. A 52-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man were injured in a mortar attack.

In the Krasnopillia community, a 51-year-old man was injured when an enemy drone struck a car. In the Esman community, an enemy drone hit a house, injuring a 60-year-old man. In the Shostka community, a 73-year-old man was injured in an airstrike.

The largest number of attacks was recorded in the Sumy, Shostka, and Konotop districts, where civilian infrastructure, houses, non-residential premises, buses, and cars were damaged.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, a man and a woman were killed in the border area of Sumy region after explosive devices detonated, while another woman was injured.
