OPERATION HADIN KAI AIR STRIKES DESTROY ISWAP GUN TRUCKS, KILL FIGHTERS IN ADUWA

Air platforms of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have reportedly destroyed two ISWAP gun trucks and inflicted significant casualties on the terrorist group during precision air strikes at Aduwa village in Guzamala Local Government Area of Borno State.

The strikes, conducted on August 21, 2026, were targeted at suspected ISWAP fighters operating in the area as part of intensified efforts to disrupt terrorist formations and their freedom of movement across the Lake Chad axis.

According to Intelligence sources the air strikes were highly effective, with all personnel observed at the targeted location assessed to be ISWAP fighters. The intelligence indicated that two terrorist gun trucks were destroyed during the strikes, with one of the vehicles reportedly completely burnt in the attack.

Following the strikes, surviving terrorists were observed attempting to evacuate casualties from the area. The intelligence further indicated that terrorists were seen towing another damaged vehicle while evacuating several wounded fighters around Gudumbali, apparently moving towards the Lake Chad area.

The movement is believed to be part of efforts by the surviving elements to recover their wounded fighters and withdraw from the affected area following the air strikes. The precise number of terrorists killed and wounded in the operation was not immediately established, while the identities of senior ISWAP commanders who may have been eliminated are still being verified. Further battle damage assessment and intelligence gathering are expected to provide additional details on the casualties inflicted on the terrorist group.

The latest operation forms part of the sustained air and ground campaign by Operation HADIN KAI to disrupt ISWAP’s command structures, fighting formations, logistics and freedom of movement in the North-East. The destruction of the gun trucks is expected to further reduce the group’s ability to conduct mobile attacks and transport fighters and weapons across the Lake Chad region. Security sources said the operation demonstrates the continued importance of intelligence-led air operations in degrading terrorist concentrations and forcing surviving fighters to abandon established positions. As troops of Operation HADIN KAI maintain pressure across the theatre, security forces are expected to sustain surveillance and offensive operations to prevent the surviving elements from regrouping and re-establishing their positions in the affected axis.
