In the Agualinda village of Ituango, #Antioquia, expert bomb disposal soldiers from the 10th Light Infantry Battalion “CR. Atanasio Girardot,” of the #FourthBrigade, along with their canine partner Xenu, carried out a controlled detonation of two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) believed to have been planted by members of the GAO-r Structure 18. With courage, discipline, and professionalism, these soldiers applied established protocols to neutralize this threat. The devices contained explosive charges and metal fragments that could have been used as shrapnel, posing a serious risk to troops and civilians in the area. The specialized work of Xenu, a canine from the National Army, was crucial during the search and security operations. His skills, combined with the soldiers' experience, allowed for a safe operation and the elimination of the danger in the area. During the operation, a flag alluding to an organized armed group was also located and removed. The action restored security and reopened the road without affecting the civilian population, infrastructure, or property. The National Army will continue protecting the lives and well-being of the communities.
